Do you sign a training contract or Memo of Understanding when hired by American Eagle? If yes, what are the terms (i.e. $, length of time, prorated)?

There is no training contract with AE.

There MAY be a training contract with your flight school if AE is footing your training bill. Word has it that several flight schools are being paid by AE to train (or complete training) on pilots who agree to come to Eagle.

As this practice is outside of the ALPA collective bargaining agreement and between AE and that flight school, not sure of what (if any) financial liabilities are being placed on the student/prospective employee to stay at Eagle for any required length of time.

If you come to Eagle without any exposure to the above, then there is no training contract on Eagle property. Many newhires are coming to Eagle planning to build 500 hours jet and then jumping ship to greener pastures. They see it as another "flight school" per se on their climb up the ladder.

Since your chances of captain upgrade are less than zero for at least 5-10 years, many see a 6-12 month apprentaceship at "American Eagle Aviation" as a sound investment without much sacrifice.

Good Luck.
