AMERICAN AND AMERICAN EAGLE ANNOUNCE THEY WILL ADD
A TOTAL OF 70 DEPARTURES AT DFW BY SUMMER 2005
Expansion Will Include 35 Flights With Mainline AA Jets
[/font]
FORT WORTH, Texas -- On the strength of a growing North Texas
economy and the continued success of its Dallas/Fort Worth hub, American
Airlines today announced that it and its regional affiliate, American Eagle, will add
a total of 70 departures at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport by the summer of 2005.
American said 35 of the new flights will be operated with mainline
American Airlines jets. American Eagle regional jets will be used for the
remainder of the DFW schedule expansion. Overall, the new flights will increase
the American and American Eagle presence at DFW by almost 10 percent, one
of the largest expansions by the carriers at DFW in many years. The increase
also will bring American's total jet departures at DFW to 540, the largest in
American's history at the airport.
"This is our home and Dallas/Fort Worth Airport is a key to the long-term
success of our company in an extremely difficult industry environment," said
Gerard J. Arpey, American's Chairman and CEO. "We have taken a number of
steps to strengthen our DFW hub over the past few years, and this expansion is
another important initiative as we continue to transform our company. The new
services will further expand our network at DFW and increase the availability of
our competitive fares."
