An American Airlines agreement with its American Eagle commuter unit and pilots at both carriers on seniority collapsed because of a disagreement over adding 25 more regional jets at Eagle, a pilots union said.

The agreement, reached Oct. 24, would have preserved seniority rights for American pilots and helped recruit new pilots at the commuter unit.

The issue now will now be decided by an independent arbitrator, the Allied Pilots Association told members in a message Thursday.

The union represents pilots at Fort Worth-based AMR Corp.’s American Airlines.

Gorrilas

If you will recall, I made a comment awhile back about being in the same room with a couple of gorillas named APA and AMR. Well, they have decided to have a wrestling match over some bananas(not very many) and we are now in the position of trying not to get squashed. I'm still happy to be here, but only because I don't have a lot riding on the outcome. I'm just sorry that a lot of my fellow pilots are in a bad spot. I'm new, but I have been treated extremely well by the people at my base. I'm both glad and proud to have gotten through training, and I'm thrilled to be starting IOE. Eagle is clearly a wonderful place to work. But if the future dims, I and many like me will regretfully find work elsewhere.

Respectfully, Wacoflyr

Too bad you can't just stay in training. Call back after you've been on the line for awhile.
