I recently left a job flying 50 to 60 hours a month in a C-402 for a job flying about 10 to 20 hours a month in a BE-90 King Air. Both as a Captain.

Was this a good move? I have about 1500 hours turbine PIC in military King Air 200s, so I have the minimums, but EVERYONE seems to advocate more turbine PIC. I figured increasing my turbine PIC was probably more important. At my new job, I might have a chance to do training, which will also increase my flight hours. Both jobs pay nearly the same, but QOL of life is better flying the King Air.

I could probably pick up a few extra hours a month flying the C-402 as well. Is it worth the extra effort for another 5-8 hours a month? Obviously, if I can do King Air training, the choice between the two is a no brainer, but sitting around all day, hoping to fly is maddening.

Thanks for any input.

SWA interview oportunity

KA Evac,
Obviously, your chances will get better as you add time and experience to your resume' - especially with PIC turbine time.
My experience is nearly identical to yours and I've had a paper app in since Aug2002, B737 typed for SWA `exclusively' a year ago, and online app since its inception in Jan2004 and updated regularly.
I've heard nothing from SWA PD since their Dec2003 mailed announcement of the online application process.

this industry is such a fickle thing. My partner on my freight run is a retired navy P-3 pilot. His brother is a FedEx training captain. My buddy has three masters degrees, two bachelor degrees and a teaching certificate and he can't get on with FedEx...(although I think his turning down the training department job offer kind of sunk his ship). Now he's gone off and done his type at higher powers and I hope for him he gets in at SWA. He's a really good dude and I think he deserves a move up.

So P3 Tweek, I would say throw everything you got at SWA and then when you have to settle for FedEx...(you get the ironic humor in that?)

Phone's been quiet...

See my stuff over to the left...Jan on-line app and April type at K&S, and 350hrs and counting in the -800 and nothing so far.

Random numerology?

AMR Guy,
I can't figure SWAPD's method of selecting apps for interviews. I've seen some picked for interviews with minimum times and quals and NO 737 type rating and get hired. Others with your excellent quals aren't getting calls. They must be using a random method of some sort.
Best of luck to all!!!!!!!!!!!
Chief pilot Tweek:rolleyes:
