A buddy of mine told me that Atlas has an STC to exchange the pratts on the 747-200 with GE's. Did Atlas develop this, and do you guys perform the STC yerselves?

i dont know who owns the stc, but we do have pratt powered whales. also we do own the stc for winglets on the 200. but no one wants to use it. i guess the fuel burn is acceptable to the customer at the rates we charge, despite those pesky high crew costs.

It was done at Wichita, Kansas, the Boeing facility. We had two done. There were reqirements that the plane have certain pylon mounts before it could be done. Not sure who owns the STC.
