What am I doing wrong? I've been sending out alot of resume's since about 3 weeks ago with a killer cover letter, and still no calls. Everyone else in here seems to be getting interviews.
Why not me? Does anyone else feel this way too?

Humphry,

Don't get discouraged......Most people getting the interviews have been trying for A LOT longer than 3 weeks. I've only been looking for a month and have received no phone calls either. (but my answering machine broke...DOH!)

I have 2 friends that have been looking for well over a year and they just got their phone calls for class dates.

rch

I sent out a lot of resumes about three weeks ago as well. I haven't heard anything yet either. It takes a while to look at all the resumes that come into an airline's office.

Before the 11th, I got two interviews, both after sending in an updated resume about a month after the first try. Don't sweat it, just keep flying and update your resume with them in another week or two.

Dude if you are getting frustrated because you have not got a call after three long hard ruthless weeks, chill the f out. You and 50,000 other highly qualified guys and gals are doing the same. i had an interview a year and a half ago with 1500 and 300 went up to dec of last year without a single call. Now march and i've been to three interviews within 2 weeks with 2 job offers. I've got 2500 plus hrs. So sit back drink all the beer you can and get a hobby besides phone call waiting!!!

3 weeks is nothing, plus 1000 hours is pretty low too for some of the bigger regionals as they have higher "competive" mins above what they list as their official mins. You have a good shot at Mesa or Colgan though. With 4500tt, 1400me, 1000 turbine and 600 ifr and 3 years part 135 I've applied to three regionals within the past month and have not gotten a call yet either but I expect one any day from Eagle... please God!. Just hang in there and remember, "a lot" is two words. :)

I HATE FREIGHT!

I agree with all, 3 weeks is nothing!

Wow Pal, you better get on the xanax quick, cuz you have a long wait ahead of you with the times you have. I started looking and sending resumes out 4 months before I got out of the Air Force and now that I have been out for 5 months with over 7,000 hrs PIC TT in heavy transport aircraft and I am JUST starting to get interviews, with Regionals and some of the LCC's.

Dont give up the ship, just keep building hours and keep applying, be patient and it will happen. Its a tough road out here and the competition is keen, so dont get discouraged. :D

Along with the patience that everyone is prescribing you, I would also recommend networking and meeting people at the various airlines you've sent resumes to. If you want anything done on a more expedited basis, then knowing someone is the only way it is going to get done. If the others are correct, and you are lower down on the competitiveness scale, then expect to be waiting for quite a while to hear back from anyone. We're not exactly in a hiring boom right now by any stretch of the imagination.

Having said all that, persevere and you will succeed.

It took me two years of applying and sending resumes to become an overnight success. Don't worry. They'll call you a long time after you think you're ready.

So true....been on the street for 14 months and started sending resumes out well before furlough....matter of fact every month constantly.....I was just in the last couple of months that I had a few bites and two offers.

So keep pressing!!
