Does anyone know if all ALLATPS hires only their students? I'm thinking of going to the AllATPS in vegas for my CFI,CFII,MEI ratings.

Yes, they only hire their former students for CFIs.
But will the fact that I'm only going through the instructor program hurt my chances?

Yes

They only hire people who have gone through the entire career pilot program. And now that they go from private-CFI, as those people get done, they'll probably only hire them.

TEX,

I got my MEI from AllATP's a few years ago. After I completed my checkride, I was asked if I was interested in submitting a resume there. To make a long story short, they told me that they usually hire their graduates who complete the entire program but if they have a high turnover/shortage of instructors (as they did in '98) they will hire pilots who have done Flight Instructor training with them.

I didn't pursue the job with them for a few reasons, but none of them had to do with the school itself - I was pleased with the training I recieved in TTN. I was living rent-free at the time (Thanks Dad!) and was working for a flight school that was associated with a large charter company that hired many of it's pilots from the flight school.

The best way to find out if you have a chance at working there is to ask someone from ATP. Tell them what your goals are and see if they will consider hiring you when you complete their training course.

Good luck,

-Former ATP instructor in JAX200-2001.

By far the bulk of instructors were hired from the ranks of the career pilot program. However, at the time I was a student, the airlines were hiring like crazy, there was rapid instructor turnover, and the company would hire others from outside the career pilot program as needed. In fact, my instructor at ATP had jumped ship from Comair and with good recomendations, had been hired at ATP. Several of my students (MEI/II) who had come from Embry-Riddle were hired also. Now, however, there is very little movement into the regional airlines and ATP can fill its' instructor needs from within. It can't hurt to try though, If you go through the CFI program, ask your instructor about the chances of his putting in a word for you. If you're going to be stuck instructing for a while until hiring picks up, you cant beat ATP.

Also, as far as I know, ATP will NOT hire anyone who hasn't gone through at least some flight program with them. They like you to be familiar with their procedures, as well as getting a good look at your skills.

And if you do get hired by them, hang on tight. A friend just passed the 800 hour mark with well over 600 hours multi in less than a year employ with them. His cost was 6 weeks answering phones in Florida.

Nice work if you can get it.

I, and several other pilots I know, got cfi jobs at ATP's without ever taking any of their programs. Of course, this was awhile ago, and may be different now.

In my opinion (which is probably not worth much:D) ATP is THE place to both train and work. I could write pages upon pages of the excellent things they did for me and my career. I an sure there are people out there that will say they had a bad experience, but since most people only write if they had a bad experience, I thought I would write and tell about my EXCELLENT experience with ATP.
Good luck with your decision to train there.

Stress how important it is to take care of the equipment if you get an interview, and don't slam the door on the Seminoles.
