I would suggest you call the 800 number and ask them for the locations that are closest to you and their phone number. Then
call those locations and ask to speak to an instructor for your type course. Ask him what the D.E.'s profile is for your particular course. Most examiners have the same pass or fail rate but they all have different profiles for their flights. I hope this helps.
It would seem to me that if you are at all competant, then you could pass a checkride no matter who is in the seat next to you. Not taking a personal stab at you, but YOU are going to pass or fail the checkride, not the EXAMINER. My two cents, I'll get off the soap box now.
I can understand his question b/c I had a bad examiner for my private checkride.
Anyhow, I just switched examiners (along with every other student at my school) and that cleared this up.
Going to a place like All ATPs, the instructors most likely have sent dozens and dozens of students to the same guy. The profiles can vary, but the operations will not.
