Has anyone gone through the 2-week CFI/CFII/MEI course that ATP provides?

From the research I've done it looks like a good flight school, it seems they are well organized and have a good reputation. I'd imagine you have to be well prepared ahead of time.

Does anyone know how the program is spread out?

How did you like it?

What type of housing do they provide?

The CFI course is offered in Jacksonville, Vegas, Sacramento, Atlanta, and Riverside ... I'd probably lean towards the Jacksonville location. Just lookin for some input.

ME Com

I did my multi-commercial with them in 2002. Very well organized, their manuals and study kits give you the precise low-down regarding test standards and required knowledge. But yes, they send all that to you in advance, so you have to study hard before even getting there; this is assumed.

I had one of the worst instructors I'd even flown with there; he was knowledgeable, but he and I just did not get along. Therefore, I don't hold that against the school, just a personality anomaly.

The aircraft are all in very good shape, some have the full Garmin IFR package installed, some don't (circa 2002 so they may all be equipped now).

Overall, trustworthy and good bang for the buck.

Bump!

I'm considering the program in Vegas...

Any info on preferential hiring after satisfactorily completing the course?

I have heard mixed opinions regarding this program. I personally did some research awhile back when I was looking for a "fast" program to get my I/II and I decided against going to ATP. I felt that Airman Flight School in Norman Oklahoma was the best for the money and the "quickest". If I had to do it all over again I would have done it the same way. I pleased with the way Airman ran the program and I thought John Lair was one of the sharpest ground instructors that I have come across to date.

It is very well structured and they know how to get you done in a specific amount of time and no bullsh!t was involved.

ps>> the female oil wrestling was a "pleasure" to see at the Ramada as well. That was worth it alone.:D

EngineOut,

They can usually get a class through in about 2 to 2.5 weeks, sometimes quicker. Feel free to private me if you have any specific questions that I may be able to answer.

I know our class had three people that were offered a position upon successful completion of the course. I believe you have to pass the rides on the "first" attempt though. I would have taken the job if I wasn't already employed back East, Norman is a pretty cool college town. You will do the II training & checkride "first" ( part 141) then do the I as the "add-on" under part 61.

good luck,
