From the ALG code-a-phone

In a recent PSA MEC Update, reference was made to an acting PSA MEC chairman being at last weeks LOA 91 meeting in Washington. According to the update, this acting chairman got a call informing him that “PDT was in final stages of negotiations with USAirways for our fleet of CRJ700, our future deliveries and possibly all of our CRJ200s.” It was also reported that verification was received from Duane Woerth and the acting chairman even made more calls that reverified the information.

Although the Chairmen of both ALG and PDT were in the same conference room as the acting dignitaries from PSA, no PSA representative spoke with them about the situation. The PSA representatives then left without further discussion.

Upon hearing why PSA was in panic mode, ALG MEC Chairman, Pat Flannery called PSA Chairman Steve Toothe in an attempt to stop this classic whipsaw. The call was unsuccessful and the PSA MEC began their emergency meeting that ended in ratification of whatever deal was on the table.

Had the PSA MEC spoken with either the ALG or PDT MEC Chairmen, they would have found that no such negotiations had taken place and that the only change from the week before was the rumor of something that never really happened.

Once again history repeats itself and a successful whipsaw occurs.

DUH!!! If the MECC would have made a simple phone call, this all could have been avoided. Shame on management for whipsawing, but shame on PSA for caving in to that crap.

Another Bump, Just to make sure certain people see it.

:) :) :D ;)

We all know what really happened that night. And I would like to thank the PDT MEC and ALPA National for forcing the PSA pilots into the most disgusting display of the mighty whipsaw that I've ever seen.

As a former 10-year "veteran" of ALG, I am interested in what is happening at the company these days.

Can anyone give me a bullet-point synopsis?

Last I heard they were being merged into PDT with the Dash-8's being returned as the leases expire...is that still the case?

Thanks...

I am not sure I understand what you are saying?

Have you read or called the PDT/ALG hotline?

To me it sounds as if PDT/ALG are going out of the way to make it known that they were not in any negotations secret or otherwise.

No....I no longer know the hotline number and there doesn't seem to be very much discussion on this forum about ALG.

That's why I was asking. I'm just interested inknowing the situation at my former employer these days.

Smoke,

Put yourself in PDTs' shoes, would you admit to what was going on or would you say exactely what they said in their hotline? Listen to the PDT hotline "carefully".

NONE of the PSA LEC members wanted anything to do with a slotted system, they did what they thought would be the best way to keep the planes coming to PSA and protect jobs. Ask some of the people in your local, most will tell you that they were contacted that night and asked their opinions.

None said they were willing to lose jobs over this, so with the threat from ALPA national, the PSA pilots had 24-48 hours to accept the deal or PDT would get all current and future orders. With no time for membership ratification, the PSA MEC did what had to be done "based on information from ALPA National" and from a "source within the PDT MEC".

No one likes what was done, but hopefully when this company becomes an 800+ pilot group, the strength will be there to standup for what is right. But right now I can only find a handfull of pilots that would have been willing to "call the bluff".

If you believe that PDT will ever see a jet on the property, I've got a bridge for sale.....

As far as the PDT pilots group, and or union trying to pull a fast one, it might do you some good to check your own backyard first when complaining about a group selling their souls.

This is the Piedmont MEC update for July 26th, 2004 with one new item.

The most recent PSA hotline claims that there sighing of an agreement on the CRJ 700 aircraft was an emergency response to news about the Piedmont MEC being in the final stages of negotiating such a deal as well as obtaining PSA’s CRJ 200’s, you should know that this was never the case.

There were no negotiations entered into by either the Piedmont or the Allegheny MEC leaderships and we are extremely disappointed that such claims may have been used to pressure the PSA MEC into signing a deal.

It’s been clear for a long time that PSA was to be the recipient of such equipment and that failing an agreement being reached with there MEC these aircraft were to be flown at an affiliate carriers, our position was always clearly defined, we will not entertain or be part of any more whipsaw attempts between the U. S. Airways wholly owned carriers

Had U.S. Airways offer to PSA been irrevocably and verifiably withdrawn we would at such time have been free to peruse negotiations for CRJ 700’s only! To be flown at Piedmont rather than at affiliate carriers.

That concludes this MEC update, thank you for listening.

You asked me to listen carefully, so I did, and have the text also, the part where they talk about there were no negotations entered into by either ALG or PDT, wow that sounds shady ????????? Also on the ALG hotline where they tried to contact our MEC chair? If you are happy with your seniority being given away on a LIE that is fine by me. I however want to know the truth.

SOMEONE LIED SOMEWHERE, and if information was misrepresented and the MEC acted on this false information, in a action that impacts peoples pay, time off, etc IMHO this has the possibility of some huge LEGAL action. (disclamer: IMHO).

Would I call the bluff? You better believe it. Believe what you want but something stinks here.

Smoke,

The above is the part to pay attention to. Remember that the PSA pilots, just a few weeks ago, stoped the negotiating committe from talking to Mainline about a slotted seniority system. Since a slotted seniority sys. is all that Mainline wanted, this allowed for the above statement to be true.

Trust me when I say that the PSA MEC did what they thought was in the best interest of the PSA pilots with the information given to them.

Trust me also when I say that the reps in attendance at the meeting were on the phone calling the people they represent for their opinions. Maybe not everysingle person was called, but a good portion were. The reps that I know would not have made the choice they did had the majority of the pilots not wanted them to. It came down to, we're either gonna be here in a year or not.

If the MEC did this with false information from ALPA National or from anyone within the upper levels of the MEC, then yes we need to see accountability. But as long as the information remains true, then the PSA MEC may have hurt the seniority system, but all PSA pilots will still be employeed. Tough Choice, especially when your the one that needs to make it.

Its easy to say what you would do, its not so easy to tell the people you represent that they are now out of a job because you thought ALPA and the Company were bluffing.

No SPIN ZONE!

I am not going to argue with what happened in DAY during this meeting, that is not my point, You can justify the decision however you would like. Once again there has been no reason that the Pilot group could not have voted on this issue.

According to the PDT/ALG hotline there were NO negotations, alleged by the Negotation committe Worthe and Pollock claim that there were negotations, with a 24-48hr deadline. (Do you see the problem here?)

Although the Chairmen of both ALG and PDT were in the same conference room as the acting dignitaries from PSA, no PSA representative spoke with them about the situation. The PSA representatives then left without further discussion. (If this is true do you see a problem here?)

Now if you will REMEMBER due to a FUBAR in the wording, the negotiating committe, was allowed to talk again, Problem solved. The PSA July 23 hotline said PDT was in negotations for 700's, future deliveries, and "Possibly all of our CRJ 200's", note the statment you wanted me to pay attention to does not include anyting about the 200's. Also is U alpa the one who ordered the 700's and are having them delivered to the PSA property? Uhhh, no that would be U MGT, so inorder to have an offer withdrawn would that not have to come from MGT? Never in any of the messages etc, as a statment of MGT withdrawing the offer been made. (IMHO they do not have the time or the money to start another CRJ program).

Wow. This is a surprise. In just two years we've gone from the Taliban to the Toeliban. This woman is not really that hot, but given the geopolitical backdrop she is impressive. She's got a combination body... sort of the hourglass lean-but-unmuscular torso of the 1970s playboy bodies with the tightly-cropped/waxed toe region and fake rack of 2003. In 2001, the last year the competition was held (2002 was cancelled due to an “invasion”), the winner looked somewhat different... she wore a burka and had a bush that looked like an afghan blanket. In Iraq, under Saddam, the men had a contest each year to search for the Shiite with the largest nutsack... the winner was declared the "Bag-daddy". We called Paul Bremmer to see if this wonderful Muslim tradition would continue under US supervision but he declined to comment.
