Is it just me or does the PC-7 look like a very similar, yet very pussed-out modern version of P-51?

They are used for personal transportation for the state dendrologists. That's one of the reasons those jobs are so difficult to get. Really? No, not really.

They use them for lead planes for air attack.

Makes sense to me. The reliability of the turbine engine would probably come in handy in AK?

Isn't that also known as the T6-Texan II?

Raytheon bought the design or rights or something to that nature and made some changes to the design. The canopy and the rear fuselauge looks a bit different? The new Texan II demonstrator stopped into my airport ( as in the airport I work at) about two months ago making its way back to home base from Singapore! They came the long way around too (Europe). Nice new glass cockpit and shiney black and red paint scheme. The crew talked with us ( the other line guy and myself) for a bit and gave us some little gold t-6II pins. :D

I saw a couple of AF T-6II's in MSP a couple of weeks ago... They blasted off as we were on short final... Dang things are fast!
