United Reaches Agreement With Air Wisconsin on Amended United Express Contract

CHICAGO, July 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United Airlines (OTC Bulletin Board:
UALAQ) today announced that it has reached a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
with Air Wisconsin Airlines to operate select portions of the Company's United
Express Service. In addition to its existing fleet, the amended agreement also
provides Air Wisconsin the opportunity to place an additional 20 regional jets
in the United Express program in Washington, Chicago and Denver. The agreement
is for an 11-year term.

"Given our long-standing relationship with Air Wisconsin, I'm pleased we have
reached a Memorandum of Understanding that furthers this partnership," said Greg
Kaldahl, director-United Express at United Airlines. "Our amended agreement
will allow Air Wisconsin to continue operating under the United Express brand
while offering a first-rate level of service to United's customers."

The MOU is conditioned upon negotiation of final agreements as well as
approval by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Air Wisconsin must also finalize
agreements on labor cost savings with its flight attendants, mechanics and
customer service personnel in order for the agreement to become effective.

In 2002, United's employees broke 35 company records and achieved the best
overall operational performance in the company's 77-year history. United
Airlines finished 2002 ranked No. 1 in the industry in domestic on-time
performance, according to the official U.S. Department of Transportation's Air
Travel Consumer report. United and United Express operate more than 3,300
flights each day on a route network that spans the globe. News releases and

We have been told for the past couple of months to prepare to expand operations in IAD over and above the 4 cities we do already.

The only vague bit is about adding 20 RJ's. Not sure yet if this is on top of the 75 firm orders or takes us to 75 or are those 20 the remaining 70 seaters????????

Gotta love being with a private company - mushroom syndrome all over

Actually, the press release read:

In addition to its existing fleet, the amended agreement also provides Air Wisconsin the opportunity to place an additional 20 regional jets in the United Express program in Washington, Chicago and Denver.

So in addition to the existing fleet of 40 ac, the total would become a whopping 60 RJs, the same number as mesa may operate.

Expansion in IAD would suck for those of us trying to get back to DEN, not to mention the ACA pilots!

Back to DEN? Rumors are abound that DEN is going to be downsized with more flying to ORD and IAD. That will be great - a bunch of permanent whiney babies from DEN in ORD, bad enough when they are just passing through listening to "ORD this" & "ORD that".

DEN crews have a lower BS threshold than ORD crews since they are not regularly exposed to the ORD ops clusterf*ck in the alley.

That's all we need, more flights operating out of our most "challenged" station!

Add:

1. Don't like more than 2 legs before an overnight.
2. Don't like how busy the ATC system is - would like to slow to 250 kts 200 miles out like in DEN.
3. Don't like numerous legs under 1 hour.
4. Can't adjust to the abundeance of O2 found in ORD :D

Yes we all know what a clusterf*#k Signature and all the traffic in the alley cause but remember the clock is running!

anybody know the pay rates of air whacky compaired to aca? I'm just trying to figure out how low they bid to get the routes.

Air whisky will be aca in a few years. The pilots will then realize they are underpaid for what they do and united will drop them to for somebody cheaper. The cycle continues and it sucks.

Hi, my name is Steve and I'm a recovering Chicago pilot.

"Hi Steve"

I've been clean and in Denver for a year now, but from time to time I still have the urge to go to Chicago. My story is like so many others in this room. I had a family, a good job and a mortgage. I would do Chicago from time to time, you know, just on the weekends because I was junior. I knew at any time I could stop and just go to Appleton. But then I became a little more senior and started doing Chicago during the week too. I thought "No problem" I know what I'm doing and I can stop at any time. I even got so cocky as to pick up open time so that I could do as much Chicago as I could handle... but then my life really fell apart. My girlfriend knew I had a problem. When I was doing Chicago during the week, I would spend weekends recovering... And coming down was bad man... I was pulling my hair and waking up in the middle of the night screaming "WISCONSIN 583 IS GOING TO THE BOX!" or "OPS!!! IT'S 5 MINUTES AFTER DEPARTURE AND WE NEED PAPERWORK!!!" Finally she couldn't take it anymore. She left, took the kid (was okay, I don't think it was mine.) and told me to call when I got some help. THANK GOD FOR UNITED (ha ha ha never thought I'd say that.) They decided it was time for the 328 to go and that I was to go with it. I was in a placed in a three step training event that really turned my life around. My support group in Denver has been my strength and my guidance for a year now. I'm so lucky to have you guys, I don't think I can do it with out you!

Thanks for listening,

S.

have fun living in iad for 20k a year. That won't even get you a parking spot around the airport. tysons corner costs more than living downtown in some cities. Your crashpad will cost you more than 500 a month.

ACA pilots know what it costs to actually have a famiy and a home life.

She might be warming up but at least aca didn't whore themselves out.

Hey!! Mind your tongue young man, some of us Den pilots like the smooth operations out of DIA unlike the hap hazzard operation in Chi town Ooops done it again go to the penality box and wait for my call!! Sound familiar???

:D

See ya
WD.

To all those waiting for ACA to fall from grace:

IT AIN'T GOING TO HAPPEN!

Just because you negotiated a b#tch fee with a bankrupt airline doesn't mean your driving ACA out of business. United could fold tomorrow. We own our gates and we rule the east coast, south and midwest in terms of route structure.

If you think ACA will fold before United....think again...

Don't under estimate ACA...we have plans.....

I'm going to agree with the general theme of House_X (if not all of the details). If I had to bet on Tom Moore and Kerry Skeen or the managers at United, I'm going with our guys. As we say to the grunts as they board our helos: "Get in, sit down, shut up, and hold on!" Things are going to get interesting.....

Dude STFU, I hope I dont ever fly with you!

Go back to lakes, or where ever you came from.

I don't work for Mesa or ACA but I really doubt ACA is going anywhere. First of all, they own their own gates in IAD. Second, they have just purchsed a reservation system for themselves. HMMMMMMMMMM. What could that mean? So, ACA loses United contract and begins flying their own routes out of their own gates all over the northeast where they put US Scare to shame. I also agree that ACA will be around long past United. They have been in Bankrupt. court tooooooo long.

Good luck to everyone at ACA, may be some uncertain times ahead but I think you will come out OK.

TWAer,

Come on now, if there is anyone that knows about BK it should be you. How looooooong did TWA operate under BK, and how many times? Insinuating that UAL will soon find themselves out of business is as tactless as saying that you got what you deserved with the AA merger (not my opinion). Last I checked ACA flew 82% of their operation under the UA code. That leaves 18% allocated to DAL, not much. I doubt that ACA could stay at present size without UAL. As for the gates owned by ACA, I understand that most airports require them to be in use or forfieted. The current ownership of these gates will not guarantee ACA will stay at their present size.

Losing the UA code would be anything but good for ACA, but it is interesting to see folks try and put that spin on it. The last thing we need is another carrier put into distress, and more pilots worried about their jobs. What we should be hoping for is quick resolution in the UA / ACA code share, and one that dosn't put anymore pilots on the streets.
