God if this was true I feel bad, really bad for the Delta guys. Operating at the top and then to the bottom of the barrell. Horrible thought here.:bomb:

If this were ever to happen the entire Delta pilot group should commit mass suicide out of shame and ultimate disgrace.

Nice misleading thread title Satpak

All this says is that if DL were to liquidate, that Airtran could buy the Delta name, and maybe some pieces of DL sold at auction. I am sure they could try to buy some 737-800s since they already fly the 737-700, and maybe some slots at DCA or LGA. The problem with airlines buying a lot of pieces is that a lot of the airlines don't have a lot of cash on hand thanks to high fuel prices. And, it would take years to build up an operation at ATL that DL flies today. Years. But hey, ASA would be willing and able to fly your feed.......but you better hurry up--they would be bleeding major cash from the start just waiting for the opportunity.

hey partner ease up on the "nice misleading thread title"

I did not mean to be misleading, the article I posted discusses a possible AirTran buyout of Delta.

Chill

The Heavens Gate cult had more chance catching the UFO behind the Hale Bop comet than Airtran has of buying Delta

Maybe Southwest will buy the DCA gates/slots from DAL?

If we liquidate I am sure they would be up for sale, along with all of our LGA slots including the Marine Air Terminal for the Shuttle. Throw in there a new BOS terminal, new gates in SEA, and other key structures, and you could have a great expansion plan. And, if ASA tries to go out on their own, you can pound them like Indy Air.

No Way

Air Tran is but a small fish in the game...just remember back when Air Tran thought they were going to get the Midway ATA deal......if parts of Delta and Atlanta where up for bid they would not be the big fish in the game....others with much more money would rule the day. CASH talks....besides...it's not going to happen....Pilots rule ...keep the faith fellow Delta pilots
