I'm swimming also!!!!!!
I got some unconfirmed second hand info last week that it could be late winter or spring before they run any classes, I hope that this is wrong, I'm ready to go to work.
I don't think we need to be as pessimistic as "late winter or spring", based on the facts that AirTran held an interview day on Oct 28 and are holding another one on Nov 18. They already have a moderate sized pool - why would they want to add to it if they were not anticipating classes for another 4 to 5 months? That would be an inefficient way to interview because poolies will tend to drift away to other jobs from the pool if the pool drags on for too long.
I believe (well, hope really!) that classes will resume in Jan, with a smaller probability of either Dec or Feb. Anyway, I'm not drifting away anywhere; I'm holding out for AirTran! Bring-on those classes!
Nothing official here . . . . but rumor has it that the 4 jets we were supposed to be getting that were delayed are showing up soon, certainly by the beginning of the year.
The most recent vacancy announcements show the DC9's phased out completely, and those pilots entering transition training 1/05. I am surprised that they haven't started at least one class now, to fly those airplanes while the DC9 guys are in training.
Historically, though, hiring has gone from "Stop hiring pilots! We have enough!" to "Oh my god! We need to get some more pilot classes started NOW!".
So, who knows, but I would guess either a short notice class like NOW! or one around 1/5, to be in Indoc when those transitioning guys are in Systems training.
