Does Airtran pay for your hotel while you are in ground school. If they don't can anyone give me some ideas of good hotels to stay at while in class. I will have my car down there so it could be close or a few miles away. Also, do they pay for your hotel while you are in sim training. They told us you will be either in Miami or Long beach. Thanks

AirTran does not pay for your hotel in ATL. They consider that your domicile, and therefore you are responsible for your own lodging. However, if you go to MIA or LGB (I didn't know we were using the Long Beach sim at all anymore), then they pay for your hotel and per diem. In my class (Aug of last year), half of us went to MIA, and the other half stayed in ATL. The most senior wound up in MIA for the hotel and per diem.

As far as hotels go, I personally used the AmeriSuites North. It wasn't the cheapest, but it is new and the people that work there are very nice. I know some others who stayed there and doubled up to help defray the cost.

Most of us stayed at the Country Inn & Suites. It was $35 per night for a double room, which we split and ended up paying about $19 a night per person-total. I'll dig up the phone # and post it here tomorrow.

atl hotel

Country Inn ph # (770)991-1099. Breakfast, internet access, recently renovated, clean rooms, attached mexican restaruant, crappy neighborhood.

As mentioned $35 AirTran rate. I'm a commuter and use them occasionally. 2 blocks to the training center (ground school) not so close to the sims (4-5 miles).

They'll give you a list on the first day of hotels with discounted weekly rates.

Other ones that give us a discounted daily rate are:

The Wellesley
Drury Inn
Ramada Plaza
Courtyard (North, I think. There is also a South one)
Radisson

There is also a Studio 6 which is pretty nice formerly the Diplomat) you might be able to negotiate something weekly with them.

Good luck.

Miami is a pretty sweet deal. When I was there we were given a 2 bedroom condos and a rental car (to split). At 70 hrs per month and per diem the whole time, it was A-OK.

Ty,

I think they've gotten away from the apt and rental car in MIA. We now stay at the Embassy Suites (single rooms), and they have a shuttle to the sim. You still get the hotel paid for and $35/day per diem, plus the 70 hr guarantee.

The folks at the Country Inn are great. Note about length of stay. If you're there more than 10 nights in a row, make sure they don't charge you city tax. Saves a few bones.

Congrats and see ya' on line.

Yeah, and they have a sexy looking, foreign, blonde chick working the front desk.
