Here's what may be an uninformed question, but why can't the NPA go off on its own and get health insurance for the pilots (without the company)? We have 1500 pilots, which is barely smaller than the size of the company when I got here.
My guess is that we'd get either (1) a better deal or (2) force the company to give us better rates because we'd no longer be funding the doctor/drug habits of the rest of the company.

I've heard the issue is guys with serious illness would get screwed if we change plans. This from someone who would know.

Funny you should say that. My PPO while at Vanguard paid for my vasectomy 100%. I just paid 10 bucks recreational drug copay when it was over. At AirTran it would probably cost me several hundred bucks.

Actually, it wouldn't cost you anything here- they've been trying to neuter the entire pilot group for years.

You mean they'd handle it pro boner?

Look, HST . . . . my advice to you as your Samoan attorney is to drop your health insurance IMMEDIATELY! Those doctors on that plan are a bunch of crazy, hyped-up lounge-lizards, high on god-knows-what caplets, capsules, ampules and inhalers they have been provided as samples by the pneumatic pharmaceutical salespeddlers. . . .

I would highly recommend you start consuming vast amounts of single-malt Scotch--- WAIT! Scratch that . . . . I would start consuming vast amounts of 16 year LAGAVULIN immediately, if not sooner- its medicinal qualities are indisputable and it is completely tax-deductible if purchased under the advice of a doctor of letters, such as yourself.

IF I were you, I would

Whoooa.... $550/mo for a family plan???!?!

We gave up our free medical coverage (PPO or Kaiser - your choice) in bankruptcy, so now our maximum monthly premiums are $50/mo for employee, $100/mo for employee+spouse and $150 for a family plan.

Wow!!! I'll go ahead and stop bitching about this concession. At least you guys have a fairly quick upgrade. 5th year FO here with no sight of upgrade...
