Here we go again...

Gretta called today and said the 25 March class will now be April 29th and "may or may not be a 717 class" possibly could include 737...

she said they didn't want to do the small classes, so they are combining and creating a class of 20 in April.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the final change. With the 737's coming in June, maybe this is it?

Can't wait to get to ATL!! Until then, back to the golf course.

Just remember: When you finally make it to the cockpit at AirTran and smell something odorous that it's proper etiquette to look at the bottom of your shoe before looking at the Captain.

???????????????????

Joe Vee,

Professor,

I'm not sure where you're going with this...

GolfC5,

I heard that it might be closer to 200 pilots this year, with more new hires going to the 737.

Anyway, please get on the property soon!

LOL!! Now thats actually funny!

BTW Prof. Joe Vee... I walked your resume in like you asked me. They said it doesn't look too good however. Something about it being written in blood on a piece of tissue paper scared our HR person. Sorry....

So hows the program at the clinic going? Are the voices still as loud as they were when you were admitted? Do you think the judge will let you out at your next hearing?

Take care.

Why do we even bother talking about this anymore? Nobody knows a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** thing about what they are thinking at AirTran.

You're in this class...no that's cancelled you're in that class....no it's cancelled. Everyone on this board has been wrong, wrong, wrong, so I ask my fellow poolies and current AirTran pilots why do we bother even talking about it?

I lost track of how many opportunities have passed because of this situation. I want to work at AirTran more than anywhere else, but I don't know how much longer I can take this.

I would rather hear nothing at all than BS that never amounts to anything.

Frustrated and drowned like a frigging rat.

Well you are wrong about one thing..... and that is I have never been wrong about anything I have said about AirTran on this board. I have tried to stay away from making public statements about class dates, class size, hiring, etc. for exactly the reason you describe.

The one thing I have said on numerous occasions is that this company changes on a dime, and you gotta be flexible to apply here, interview here, and work here. It may or may not be seem to be the right thing, or necessarily fair to all the people wanting to get interviewed, hired, or in class. But the company strategy of instantaneous flexibility seems to work towards the survival of the company.

Once you are actually flying online is when you can relax and start to not have all the anxiety.

I could offer more with regards to the company plans that I have heard, but then I would be guilty of saying and doing what you don't want to hear.

Does anyone know if the HR folks (for pilots) are at the corporate headquarters in MCO, or are they up in ATL?

While I can empathize with your situation, Former727, common sense says that when we did not get the final 4 aircraft we were expecting last year, it only made sense for the company to cancel those classes. Frustrating? No doubt. For us FO's, we also saw our credit pay decrease from 84 hours average to around 74. Not as frustrating as being put on hold, but I think you can see the big picture. It was unfortunate that Boeing couldn't send us the airplanes we were promised, but that is the reality, and the company did whatthey had to do given that reality.

As for the most recent delay . . . . frustration on top of frustration. Sounds like they have made a recent decision to do something different. . . apparently involving the 737. What it is, or why, I do not know.

If you think you are passing on other viable opportunities, by all means, you don't owe us anything. Interview with ATA (never pass up an opportunity!). If you have class dates at both . . . so be it. You are a free agent, only you can decide what is in your best interest.

I wish you luck, and patience. It took me 5 months from interview to class date here, with a few false starts. The good news is once I started, I got pushed right to a line, and I found myself in the top third of FO's in about a year and a half . . . so hang in there. Once the floodgates open, it'll all be behind you, and you'll be breezing along.

Pilot H.R is in MCO

TY, what happened with the last 717 deliveries?

Also, will your 737s have winglets? I thought I read a post that said Leonard now didn't want them..?? But someone's avtar has a drawn picture of one with winglets. What is the deal?

Bye Bye--General Lee;)

The 717's are still coming, 6 I believe, as are the 737's, 2 per month for '04 starting in June, one per month for '05.

I hear the 73's will not have winglets.

This is all rumor from the crew lounge, so.....

Winglets

General,

AF Citrus had this AVTAR with winglets. I thought it looked neat, so I asked him if I could borrow it.

(If anyone has any B-717 Avtars, let me know)

I heard that the 737-700s probably will NOT have winglets as the winglets cause some gate compatbility issues. Possibly the 800s will.

ATA's 737s look VERY cool with the winglets, as does the avtar I'm borrowing :)

We bought some used B717's from Boeing (so they could produce new ones for Midex, I believe). Four of the airplanes were to be ones Boeing was getting out of the Hawaiian bankruptcy deal.

Well, supposedly, things did not work out like Boeing expected, and they were not able to deliver the last 4 aircraft for the year, which left us with too many pilots and not enough airplanes.

PS, I hear the -70 will definitely not have winglets, but I hope they get 'em on the -800's, at least.

March classes.

There were two March classes. The one on the 4th is still a go ... at least for the time being.

Frm 727: I feel your pain with notifying your employer and the emotional roller coaster with the family. I for one will not notify my employer again until We are on our first break on the first day of ground school. We'll get there and two years down the road when we're sitting in upgrade we'll have a beer and laugh about the whole **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** process.

Frustrating...

I personally did not pull any of my other applications until I was wearing my AirTran ID around my neck.

I've ridden the AirTran class on/class off roller coaster myself, so I can sympathize. However, if you can hold on and be patient, it will be worth the wait. I interviewed in Jan 25th, '02, was originally scheduled for class on Feb 25th, had it posponed until April 8th, then again in June...then finally went to class on Aug 12th. However, once I got on the line, I worked with some great guys. So, hang in there.....

IMHO,

I'm VERY glad I'm here, and for me I'm looking forward to a LONG future here...

If some other opportunity comes available, then that is a very personal decision that only you can make...

I feel for you (I had a few opportunities that I thought were going to happen that the bottom fell out of).

Please hang in there and good luck!

flx757 (off topic)

I noticed your Avitar was a guitar. I am starting an airtran jam band and wondered if you were interested?
