Has anyone besides me been having problems with the subcontract security firms that are suppose to just check boarding passes?

I commute out of Tpa and everytime I jumpseat to work they argue with me about letting me out to the airside. I am always in uniform with my crew badge.

Honestly it's just getting annoying that it has reached the point were we have to be haggled by a rental cop that barely speaks english just togo to work. I check with the ticket counter and all they can do is just give me a escort pass. I have spoken to the TSA supervisor on duty and the Global Security supervisor on duty nothing changes.

Do I even have to be bothered by them? Do they have the authority to challenge us?

Had the same problem before in DFW. Quick solution was to find another security line

Not sure if this is related to your situation, but when I used to jumpseat home out of BOS, the rent-a-cops at BOS, hired by AA for their concourses, would only allow American or Eagle crew to go through without a boarding pass.

I have had the same problem in BOS, got into an argument with them on the USAir concourse on night when the line was too long at the ticket counter to get a boarding pass. After 2 different supervisors and 10 minutes arguing, i was finally allowed through.

I had a similar hassle in DCA with a nose-pierced, headscarfed ethnic-minority barely-English-speaking private security screener telling me I needed a gate pass whilst in uniform to get through to ride the jumpseat.

The ticket window lines were insanely long and I ended up missing my flight, but at least I was given wrong information by somebody who has the best interest of aviation safety and The United States of America in mind.

I was hitching a ride on USAIR and I was told by them since I was offline jumpseater they couldn't give me a pass...

Beleive it or not the TSA supervisor was really cool about it...He told me just ignore them keep walking get on the tram to the concourse and they will sort it out...

It just burns my A$$ that we now have to deal with rent-a-cops embarassing us infront of the pax...

In BOS I tried to get a boarding pass during my last turn through base, to avoid the line later making my last flight home. But they won't normally issue standby passes more than 4 hours in advance, so I learned to just get one on the earlier flight and use that as my ticket through the goon squad, later. Worked like a charm.
