A cemetary inside the airport grounds just to the right of the touchdown zone.

Gotta love O'Hare...
Lear Wanna Be said:Hey SFD,
What is your situation? Are you going to be based out of ORD and need to be within a reasonable drive to the airport? Are you from the area?
Well, here is the deal if you don't already know the area. Despite the noise and traffic, everything around ORD is expensive. I have a buddy that has a 2 bedroom townhouse in Schaumburg (8 miles west) and he paid like $150K about 5 years ago. Actually paid more than asking price. The place is worth well over $220K these days. 20 minutes south of ORD they are paying $400K for homes and knocking them down and building bigger shacks. So the price of real estate around Chicago is crazy.
As far as airport communites, there are several. Straight west down I 90 is a place called Casa del Aero. From what I have heard, it is a pretty nice and laid back place. If you go south about 1:15, on a good day, then you will find a place called Meadow Creek. There are tons of rules. Not really that aviation friendly. Just a bunch of rich people that have airplanes. If you go southwest, there is a place in Minooka. It is just a glider port with a short grass runway. Homes are located adjacent to the strip. It is a big up and coming area and the housing boom is just starting. Minooka and Channahon have grown 10 fold in the last 3 years. You can still get a 4 bedroom, 2 story, 3 car garage, on a 1/4 acre lot for just a little more than $300K. JOT and C09 are within 15 minutes or so driving distance if the glider port does not fit your needs. I live in this area and it is very nice and a place that your home might actually increase in value. Next, the nicest and most well known place is Napper Aero, in Napperville. Hard surface strip, fuel is available, everybody is pretty friendly, and that is where the Lima Lima guys are based. It is probably only about 45 minutes to ORD. I have never driven that route, so don't quote me on that.
