A buddy of mine wants me to help him start a airplane washing business. Although I have cleaned a few airplanes, I have never done it professionaly. I would like some input on best practices, chemicals, and equipment to use. Any and all ideas are appreciated that you feel would help us to do an outstanding job for our customers.

What are good chemicals to use to clean airplanes? Sould a low pressure pressure washer be used or just a water hose? What is the best way to clean boots and aluminum leading edges to make them shine?

What is a fair price to charge for a good cleaning for your type of aircraft? Is there a demand for this type of service?

Feel free to answer partially or all. All information is appreciated. PM is fine also. Thanks!

First and foremost!!!!!!!
GET YOURSELF A REAL GOOD INSURANCE POLICY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One deep gouge from a buffer on some brightwork could have you working for a year or more just to break even. Do you know how much a broken static wick could cost to replace? Just some food for thought.

Our company used aeromagnolia products. They had some great stuff called carbonX that did a great job of getting the carbon off. Also the liquid dry wash is a great tool if the plane just needs a light cleaning but want to make it look like you waxed the whole plane.

They have discounts for bulk purchases which is nice.
