I was wondering if there is anyone out there that can tell me how the quality of life is at Airnet? What are the pilot bases and how easy is it to get your base of choice? What is the typical schedule of an Airnet pilot? Thanks in advance!

well, it depends on who ya talk to. this may be an exception rather than the rule, but i have a very good friend who has been there 2 years and still cant seem to live in the same city his wife is in. she is finishing her degree and unwilling to move. when he started, he was told "it wouldnt be a problem". so he used his 2 bids to get somewhat closer to her, and is now seat locked where hes at and STILL in the Baron. needless to say, hes somewhat perturbed.

then theres yet another guy i know who gets out his door about 5pm and is home about midnight every night...dont we all wish we had schedules like that ;)

Quality of life is going to depend a lot on the run you end up with. That is going to determine where you are based, how much you fly, and how much you get paid in addition to base salary.

Most prop-pilots are based in the northeast with some exeptions, but nothing in the mountain or pacific time zones. As far as getting the base of your choice you can pretty much forget about it, unless you want to live in CMH then your chances are a little better.

I would say the typical run starts in the late evening hours and ends in the early morning with about 10 hrs duty time and 5 hrs flight.

she is finishing her degree and unwilling to move

This is why they are apart and why he is unhappy.

when he started, he was told "it wouldnt be a problem".

I'll have to assume that this may be what he UNDERSTOOD. I can't see anybody at Airnet, other than idle opinions, making any valid assumptions that you would or would not get the base of your choice. The likelyhood is akin to pulling your name out of a hat filled with 120+ others.

You have to be willing to move and accept whatever comes your way. Do a search on "Airnet" here and all of your questions will be answered.
