I have viewed the published pay scales for Airnet online. I am trying to get a better idea of what one might make in a year flying a Baron?...taking into account duty/ flight times. Really interested in the extremes from the lowest to the highest income received in a year. Any starcheckers with some numbers...either monthly, annual or however.

Thanks

First year prop driver here.....My paychecks as far as gross pay is concerned have been as low as $900 and as high as $2000. Those checks are on a bi-weekly basis. So, you can expect to gross between $24,000 and $37,000 your first year depending on the run or if you are a floater, how much you travel, etc.

I understand you are looking for extreme's, but that is impossible at least to give you. As has been stated on this board over and over again, there is no "average" pay that anyone can expect. So really there is no way to answer your question, and there never will be. If you are coming here, just plan on base pay and hope for some overtime, and there ya go.

I appreciate the info. I didn't realize you could make that much in the baron ...that's what I was looking for. I understand it depends on overtime etc. Caravan on the same pay scale? Do they put out base transfer bid openings before they fill those positions with new hires?

I've flown into SAT alot and used to see a Lr-35 parked at hallmark. Still flying out of SAT? Does DAL still have 3 baron runs and a Lear run?

Lear still in SAT and DAL (2 runs I think). No more props in DAL.

As for pay - anything that has a prop on it is the same payscale.

I saw on the AirNet website that you have a base in ATL. It mentioned it was a jet base....is it part of JetRide or part of the original AirNet system? Also, is it a senior base?

I've also been reading about the "floater." Is this something you bid for or is it just assigned to the junior pilots?

Thanks,
Matt

I think that there are two jet runs on the cargo side in Atlanta. I'm not sure about the JetRide side. I think that we also have 1 or 2 "reserve" floater jet captains based in ATL.

You bid floater positions which have been renamed "reserve". You keep your position until you bid an actual run (some people never do). Some floaters are senior guys, particularly the CMH jet captains. However, the trend is for it being a junior position (among prop guys and jet SIC's). Again this can be misleading because you are perminatly on reserve, not just until you can "hold a line". So if the guys don't leave for a perminate run, the "junior" position is held by "senior" guys, but once they do leave, the position will most likely be filled by a guy low on the list. The transition to the 8 on 6 off schedule might change that - but I'm not holding my breath that I'll ever see that day.
