Hey all you StarCheckers...

I have a ground school date at AirNet later this month and was wondering if any of you could fill me in on what the training schedule will be like. Hours, items covered, flight/sim training, etc. Is there anything I can do to prepare ahead of time. Start reading the 135 regs (again), study up on weather, etc.

Also, what exactly does AirNet cover as far as moving expenses go?

Thanks for any info everyone!!

Well...

I would plan on being in class from around 8 pm until 6-7 am mon through thursday. Items covered...a/c systems, regs, company manual, profiles...that kind of stuff. Flight/ sim training...depends on a/c you end up with when you get your base a couple of days into training. Do not worry about studying the regs...half of the 135 regs do not apply to us and they will only confuse you. They will teach you everything you need to know in the regs. Study the AIM however...and yes weather wouldn't hurt.

Moving reimbursement...

-reasonable costs associated with one rental truck or vehicle for a person to conduct a self move.
-reasonable expenses associated with one moving trailer or car carrier/dolly when doing a self move.
-if you elect to drive your own vehicle instead of renting a moving vehicle...then 32 cents per mile using AAA straight line mileage between city pairs.
-commercial moving company at the cost not to exceed the cost of a moving vehicle for doing a self move.
-$50.00 per day for hotel expenses up to 7 days during the move.
-reimburse expenses for commercial movers to load and unload a rental vehicle and a place of residence.
-one reimbursed move per seat initial seat assignment

I went through training at the end of last summer. I think some things have changed, but I'll just kinda tell you what we did. The first week or so you start about noon and go till about 1000, starting to transition you to the night schedule. Thats mostly indoc and regs. Week two you start on the night schedule. Then we did systems on the baron (which has now changed I think because not everyone gets the baron). I think by the end of week two we were in the sim. If you can get any free Frasca142 time before you come, I would, it will only make things easier. Don't pay for it though, you already got the class date. Week three we were flying the airplane. The transition from the sim to the plane should be easy because once you are done with the sim, you are really sharp.

My advice would be to know the profiles that they give you very well. Study the AIM ahead of time, but thats about it. Enjoy the hotel that they put you up in. I really miss it. It was first class when it comes to training. Get along well with the guys you have class with. The classes that are friends do much better. Get as much practice in the sim as you can on the weekend. But, make sure you have time to go to ROOSTERS (great hotwings) and Chipolte's (awesome burritos) to eat. Those are the two biggest things I miss from CMH.

well....i'm in training right now, so i'll give you my perspective.

First week: indoc stuff. you'll be there from 12:30pm until a bit after midnight. expect to study a good 2 hours each night at least. (you will also find out your base/run the 2nd night or so)

2nd week: Sim. maneuvers, approaches, stuff like that. lots of profiles. from 8pm unil 8am-ish

3rd week: in the plane....again all the sim stuff in the plane. training done all at night, like sim time schedule

4th week: checkride prep and checkride and IOE.

at least that is the tentative schedule we have been given. we are ending our first week tommorow, so we have a big indoc test i should be studying for right now.

study your AIM and 91 regs....they will explain all the company and 135 regs the way it is done here. good luck.
