The online application does a sort of computer-based "scoring" of the application once you submit it. If you checked a certain box, you get a point. If you have a certain number of flight hours, you get a point. If you a a whole bunch of night time, you get a point. If you have a first class medical, you get a point. You get the point. Nyuk nyuk.

Anyways, the applications that score above a certain level are put on "the list" and those are the people that get the phone interviews.

The biggest thing to remember is to fill the application out completely and correctly. Be sure to check EVERY box and put a number or an answer in EVERY box even if that answer is zero.

Maintaining instrument proficiency is really big. They want to know you can get in the Frasca and work it. The real question is can you or are you just telling yourself you can?

The nice thing about where I work is that we have way too many sims laying around for our own good, one of which is a Frasca 142. My roommate and I are both planning to start applying fairly soon, so it's nice having a free run of the sim to help prep and keep proficient. Being an instrument instructor helps too. :)
