Some operators actually send F/O's to recurrent training on a 6-month schedule just like PIC's.

Actually airline pilots do need a bfr, just like everyone else. 61.56 (flight review) and 61.57 (90 day currency) apply to any civilian pilot. The 6 month PC satisfies 61.56. Airline management (chief pilot, VP Flight Ops, Fleet Mgr, etc) need to do their 3 takeoffs and crashes every 90 days in addition to the normal recurrent and PCs.

Do y'all just say "screw the single engine currency" thing? Do you have time to get in 3 landings day / night in 90 days in say a 152, piper, bonanza, etc? or is that something that you don't worry about anymore?

I haven't been single engine current since July 2003. Then again, I don't have the need (or $$$) to go flying for fun right now anyway so it's no biggie. Never thought I'd have to worry about single currency and not multi. Funny how quick things change.

To operate the single, you need to be current in the single-engine aircraft. I don't get to fly a single often to stay current in them. My few experiences over the past few years in a single-engine plane have been with my father in his plane - he's a CFI-I, so that works out pretty well.

Now, the currency issue is only act as PIC carrying pax, correct? So you could (if you wanted to/had time/money to) take up a 172 for "fun" by yourself one day/night as long as your PC (FR) is "current" ?

I haven't flown much in a piston powered ac in over 8 years(total time in piston powered ac since then is like 2 hours or so), the only time is to renew my cfi which I let expire about 3 years ago when upgrading on the jet.
