I believe I had heard from someone that MESA's bid guarentee of 70 hours was for a 4 week period. They have 13 bid periods in one calendar year. If this is the case, then your yearly salary for MESA is inaccurate.

Can anyone else confirm?

Yea, there is no real way to make it work for every single airline. If their guarantee is based off of 13 bids then I can change their guarantee to 75 hours for a 12 month system. Just let me know.

I tried to go to the link that you posted, but it doesn't seem to work. Can you email it to me?

4 week bid

Mesa does use a 4 week bid, or 13 bids a year. Lots of folks eyes pop out when they see a 70 hour guarantee, not realizing it's for 4 weeks and not a month. Monthly, we earn a min. of just under 76 hours (75.83).

Do you think the overwhelming stigma about Mesa stems from this misconception? To be honest, comparing pay rates at other regionals (CRJ first year pay specifically) Mesa doesnt seem that far out of line. Albeit on the low side, it doesnt seem that the animosity is well-warranted.

What am I missing?

Mesa sucks.

You won't get much argument, even from the pilots who work there, mostly because of the management. But whether or not it really is that much worse than the other regionals in pay, working conditions, or benefits is really debatable.

A lot of people just like to blame their own company's shortcomings on someone (anyone) else and Mesa is an easy target because of the high profile sh!thead and his cronies at the helm of the company.

Corpex...Corporate Airlines
1st year FO $19.00/hr
1st year CA $27.50/hr

Per Diem $1.00/hr

75 hr/month gaurantee. Pay is frozen,
and it don't get that much better

Thanks for clarifying the link, that one works :)

I made some mods to calculate the pay based on the number of bids per year ;)

Thanks for clearing that up

Thanks for the info, I'll add corpex next.

If anyone else has rates for their company, feel free to send them over!

The reason that MESA SUCKS A$$ is that they just signed a crapy contract in 2003, every one else did theres a couple years back, there rates should be around comairs plus 10% or more.

Nice job on the comparison, by the way.

Hey everyone, I just added the ASA rates.
If you have rates for your company and I don't have them listed, feel free to send them over!

"The reason that MESA SUCKS A$$ is that they just signed a crapy contract in 2003, every one else did theres a couple years back, there rates should be around comairs plus 10% or more."

You are right! We negotiated our contract in 2002-03. But rates we are compared with ( like Comair ) was negotiate in the profitable PRE 9/11-01 era.......
Wounder why no Majors does not try go negotiate Delta +10% these days.......

Seriously, what Mesas contract lacks is go get paid better of block or actual. We did have to give some of our wishes up ( it is called negotiating...) to get rid of Freedom ( where ALL pilots are now back to the seat they can hold based on combined seniority list ) to get proper scope ( so that freedom never will happend again ) and to get our brothers @ CCAir back.

Is our contract good? Nope, but better than our old contract.

Are you kidd'n me? Not even close. Plus we get paid scheduled or better even if mother nature, MX, cancellation, schedule changes happen. Plus, soft money, soft money, soft money. Basically on RSV it means fly 25-30 HRS, get paid 90-110 HRS. Get it?

Tailwinds...

By the way, the difference at 1000 hours of pay at ACA vs. Mesa is $K. With per diem and soft money, soft money, soft money, third year at ACA is approximately $45-47K. Easily.

Hypocritical

And which regional has the most pilots on furlough right now?

Pretty sure those sitting the bench are getting no block time... and heaven forbid no per-diem.

Not real sure there are many REGIONAL pilots on furlough these days. If you are, you just haven't been looking, or willing to go to work. I know my former airline is HURTING for pilots. If you have 12 hours of wheelbarrow time they will hire you.. PDT... That's more experience than you need to fly an ERJ, just ask MESA
