Hello everyone-

I was wondering if anyone new of a good place to get a paint job. I have a seneca that is in dire needs of new paint!! Also how do I go about replacing the cowlings. They've taken a beating over the years and it'd be nice to get some new ones. Anyone know how I can get some? I don't mind flying the the place if the price is right, although I'm not sure what people are charging these days. I'm going to do a little research on the net, I just thought I'd start here. So if anyone knows of any good places that paint planes or somewhere I can get the cowlings redone- I'd love to here them!! Thanks in advance

Not too sure about good sources for Piper, but look at sources for used parts before you plunk down the big $$ for new (if even available).

As for paint shops, that's kind of a regional thing in my experience. Ask around. Look at some planes painted at the shop and ask the owners what they think of their deal. You can get ripped off pretty quick in this area - excessive cost and/or poor quality. But a reasonably priced, quality paint job can add value to your plane. Make sure you get the scope of the job in writing - strip to bare metal, primer, paint system, colors, etc. You'll be dropping $5-10 g's for a light twin, maybe more. Get the terms in writing before beginning.

One last thing - make sure an A&P is involved with the painting of the control surfaces. Might want a new W&B too, but that's optional if you're just flying pt 91, I believe.
