Can you all give me some ballpark figures that one might expect to pay for aircraft insurance on a monthly basis? I understand that rates depend entirely on the pilot, experience, location, usage, etc but would like a very general figure. I've never had any experience with aircraft insurance, so I don't know if I should expect $100 or $500 per month.

Given these hypothetical parameters, what would you guess I'd pay per month:

-1990's model Vans RV-4
-one owner/one pilot
-less than 1500 hours on airframe/engine
-pilot only has appx 65 hours

So, with all of that in mind, can you give me a ballpark? Do I have to have insurance for an experimental? Can I still get any kind of financing without insurance?
