All,
I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I have seen in a few other posts about how aircraft selection within classes involves age. Would anyone care to elaborate on that? E.g.-Does a regional with CRJs, ATRs and B1900s assign the CRJs to the oldest guys/gals in the class? I appreciate your help.

Not speaking for all of them, but i just got hired at a regional that flies 1900 and crj. i got the 1900, and was told that the weaker time guys were going to the jet and the hihgh time guys were going to the prop. i am only 23. I have taken another job at a good regional "pinnacle" and crj's is all they fly so i will be going to the crj. Flying the fighters has got to be f'n cool!!!

Thanks BAP,
Just wondering if there was rhyme or reason. I'm actually a Tomcat backseater vice pilot, but, yeah, there have been some moments. The boat at night will get you're pulse racing and flying the airshow demo last year was a lot fun.

most places assign aircraft based on seniority within your class. The two ways to assign seniority are: Age, the oldest guy in class gets the best number. Or: the last 4 digits of your social security number, the lowest last four gets the best number. After seniority is determined, you bid on aircraft and base.
