LONG TIME AGO
A long time ago, like centuries, there was a readers digest article, on an accident, involving an F-104. Back when it was a current, in use, US aircraft. Anyway, traced tons of factors to the accident.
1. The runway length had been changed, and the markers weren't.
2. The thermometer wasn't accurate, or working, or something (this is a long time ago, and memory is working hard on this), in any event, the temp was way above what was recorded, and density alt was way up there. Oh, there was some other failure, too, like wind speed.
3. Pilot had a late night, (you knew they were going to ping him).
4. To much fuel, for the runway and temp
Anyway, ended up running off the end of the runway, full power.
Now, if you could find this accident, and the article going over the causes, I believe there were some substantial operational changes as a result.
Also, it's far enough back to not get the notice of a lot of folks in your class, who undoubtedly will be looking at ATR and Cali.
