We've all heard about the many woes of Airbus. It's been obvious for a while that the A-380 is becoming a black hole that is sucking up the money and talent needed for the new A-400 (C-130 clone), the A-350WB, and upgrades to the A-320 cash cow.
We've heard about the wiring design fiasco and the wing load limit failure.
Airbus got a new CEO three months ago, brought in to get the cats herding in the same direction.
Last week one of Airbus's best customers, Emirates, announced plans to buy 20 747-8 Freighters. Could this be a precursor to the rumored cancellation of the Emirates A-380 order?
While I take a back seat to nobody when it comes to America first redneck jingoism, I've never thought that there was a chance that the A-380 program could be canceled outright.
But now I'm not so sure. I’m astonished to read that tonight Airbus has a new new CEO! Yesterday’s CEO, Christian Streiff, quit after only three months on the job!
Maybe the A-380 really is the 2006 Brabazon!
