Ladies and Gentleman,

I would appreciate some info. about Airborne. I heard that they may be getting 25 757s in the near future. Can anyone verify this? Also, some general questions: When is hiring supposed to resume, how many pilots on the seniority list right now, any pilot domiciles besides Wilmington...

Thank you for your time.

From what I've heard the 757 rumor is just that; we may, however, be looking at some additional 767s. We have around 750 on the seniority list and there is talk of some hiring this year. As you can undoubtedly tell, everything is speculative at this point. I can say that our loads are way up.

I would also point out that there hasn't been an airline called Airborne Express for a number of years. It is ABX Air. Similarly, there is no longer a DHL Airways, it is ASTAR. ABX Air has airplanes painted in the old Airborne Express colors, the new DHL colors (red/yellow) and two in the white/red/black ABX Air colors. ASTAR has, as far as I know, airplanes painted in both the old DHL colors (maroon/white) as well as the new DHL colors.

In additional to ILN, there is a small international DC8 domicile in MIA. They have eight to ten crews.

There are currently about ten pilots left on furlough but don't know how many of them, if any, are planning to return.

What happened with the INS bust at ILN last week? Heard they took away all the Mexicans and now have admin people working the sort.

I didn't hear too much about that but something about a group of 250 to 300 mexicans who had been hired but it was found out that there were only two or three different social security numbers in the whole group! My info was from the rumor mill so the details could be off a bit.
