Just wondering if Air Wisconsin has a commuter clause. If so, what are the requirement? Also how long can a new-hire expect to be reserve?

Thanks!

If AWAC continues with the United flying out of IAD there will be a slow climb up the seniority list. Best guess is reserve will be several months. If the United flying goes to Skywest or others then you'll be looking for another job along with most of the rest of us.

You'll be off reserve before you know it.
Commuting is a snap. If bumped off 1 flight, they get you a positive space ticket.
Expect to upgrade when UAL announces merging of feeders with AWAC and Skywest is stapled to the bottom.

Here is the gist of the AWAC commuter clause....
You must be listed on 2 flights that will get you to domecile. Your first choise must be scheduled to arrive at least 2 hours prior to check-in time. Your backup must get you there 1/2 hour to check in. The caveat is that the flights must be on United or United Express. The company needs to be able to access the computer records of the carrier. This is to verify that you really did list, the planes really should have got you there in time, and the planes were full or cxl. This only covers you from your permanent address. So listing on two flights coming back from your vacation trip won't help you. There is also a "good judgment" clause. For example, waiting to commute on the day a trip is scheduled to start when there is a forecast of severe winter weather would not be considered "good judgement". A pilot who is deemed not to have exercised "good judgement" in regards to his commute is not covered under the commuter clause. If you are covered under the clause, you call crew scheduling, and at their option, you will be positive spaced, told to catch the next available, or removed from the trip, with no pay.

As for reserve, it is really hard to predict right now. Of the class that was hired in early August, and hit the line around mid October, about half of them are still on reserve. So around four months is probably close. However, if we lose the United flying, or pick up some flying with another carrier, all bets are off. Hope this helped!

I've been wrong before, but.....That loosely translates to when hell freezes over.

As far as the commuter clause considering the "good judgement" section. I called in on the commuter clause the same day I was scheduled to fly. ORD was getting 12 inches of snow, that was well forcasted. Sched said no problem, let us know when you get to Chicago.
