I understand the bid for Awac's flying is for 70 rjs... assuming that it would be all of Air Wis's CRJs... but what about the Bae 146s? If things don't work out with United, can't wiskey just give UAL the screw you and take the 146s and leave? I know this would not probably happen since this would be no flying at all for awac, but if it came down to it, it's one way to give united one before awac gets the boot.

Can't they at least use it as a bargining item since the 146 are the only 70+ seater and the only UAL source going into aspen and such?

According to management the bid is for the 146 flying as well. Not sure who would fly what into Aspen, one of UAL's best markets. Those ASSpen people won't fly on a turboprop.

The 146, while a great airplane, is getting old and uneconomical(although the CRJ will never last as long as the 146 has). They'll have to be replaced at some point. I haven't seen the details of UAL's bid request, but I'm sure it's possible they could be replaced with something like the E190 to do ASE.

UAL pilot scope specifies only AWAC can fly 146-sized aircraft, but in Chp 11 I'm sure that means about nothing.
