an excellent book about delivering bug smashers all over the globe. i spent four + hours reading the whole thing in BORDERS BOOKS.

stories include; ice over the north atlantic, prison in africa, wingmen falling asleep in mid-pacific, ILS omni's mounted on fuel tanks that are mounted in the right seat (and the runway he's using is closed by ice fog), etc.......................

after 20 years and many dead friends, the author quit the business.

Imagine that, a CHEAP pilot!

A priest gets a haircut, and when he's finished the barber tells him there's no charge. "NO CHARGE? asks the priest, but you did such a wonderful job, I must owe you something?" The barber explains "You serve God and his people and I don't recall ever HAVING to pay you on Sunday? Thanks! No charge.

The next morning, the barber finds a dozen bibles by the front door of his shop.

That day, a policeman gets a haircut, and when he's done the barber tells him there's no charge. "NO CHARGE?" asks the policeman, "but my hair looks great, I must owe you something?" The barber explains "You protect and you serve our community every day with little reward for your bravery and professionalism. Thanks! No charge."

The next morning the barber finds a dozen donuts by the front door of his shop.

That day, a pilot gets a haircut, and when he's done the barber tells him there's no charge. "NO CHARGE?" asks the pilot, "but I never looked so good, I must owe you something?" The barber explains "You move hundreds of people all over the country, safely and comfortably, and often on time. Thanks! No charge."

The next morning the barber finds a dozen pilots by the front door of his shop.

Now tell me you never read a book at B&N without paying for it?

RRRRIIIIGHT!

Jim:

You've made a believer out of me. It IS wrong to read the whole book right there in Barnes and Noble, right in front of ALL those employees and customers who care so much that they, themselves, get up from their own couches and reading chairs and cafe tables to come over and tell you how wrong it is that you've been here for over 4 hours and you seem no closer to buying that book than you did when you got here and (Deep breath)

Oceanlord:

Thanks for the tip. I'll be at Barnes and Noble for most of the afternoon on Sunday seeing if I agree with your review. I even plan to purchase a latte and a scone about half way through it.
