Is this the same company that burned up an engine going into PIT a year or so ago? The airplane was N99380, but when I looked it up it said it was owned by Cool Air. Is this Cool Air the same as Air Tahoma? That flap got really burned up man, and that thing still flew out of there. The story I heard was the Captain didn't follow the correct procedure and when he closed the throttle the oil in the tube lit up! Must be some shady training over there, it wasn't that bad when I was flying piston convairs.

Speaking of training, they talk about the Captain that crashed the one in CVG didn't have very good training and was asking for some more? Who is their instructors and check airman over there? How could the guy live with himself signing someone off with sub-standard training, then having him kill his F/O! I wonder if the FAA has done anything about their training since the crash? From what I have been reading alot of things at Air Tahoma are done because the pilot training is sub-standard.

What do you guys that know Air Tahoma think?
 
I experienced an augmentor tube fire at Pit about a year ago. The aug vane stabilizing arm had broken, driving the vanes to the fully closed position. All this happened during the takeoff roll. The indicator showed the vanes fully open. There will always be oil in the tubes, because suprise, suprise!!! Radials leak...

I was lucky enough to be with someone who kept his cool and knew the drill, and we came back to land just fine. The only scary part was that the tower never mentioned the 40 foot flames coming out of the airplane, which several people on the ground noticed. The vanes were secured, and we were able to finish the trip.
Not necessarily comforting, but when you fly old airplanes you make due.
If fires and failures really frighten someone, then they should think twice before flying or buying old planes. It happens...
 
Rumor on the street (coming from JB) was that the captain was allegedly asking for more IOE before the crash that killed a great and innocent comrade (Mike Gelwick). Also, JB allegedly said that BR, NR and RW told him that they didn't have time to do additional IOE and that he'd better just suck it up and fly.

Does anybdy know if they've pursued this? Or has JB changed his story since the early days following the accident?

Training procedures??? what training procedures? If the FAA only knew of the training procedures
 
Air Tahoma's training is like Her Majesty the Queen!!

There for show, but no real power!!

Air Tahoma would not survive under a British rule!!
