anyone have any info on the fatal air sunshine ce 402 crash in south florida?

the owner of the company was in a bad car accident a few months ago. (sometimes i fly with them puerto rico to a dirt runway on virgin gorda)

yea, I heard it was twin cessna.

"After taking off from Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, the right engine of an Air Sunshine Cessna 402C blew apart, forcing the plane to ditch in the ocean about six miles short of its destination, Treasure Cay, authorities said.

Although all nine passengers and the pilot escaped from the sinking plane, a Jacksonville woman and her 3-year-old niece apparently drowned, authorities said. The remaining eight were rescued.

The plane remains in 50 feet of water."

More details on the Sun-Sentinel Website. Air Sunshine is battling with the Bahamian Authorities over a Suspension of Flight Operations right now.

Accorording their DirOfOps the Plane was 800 lbs. under MTOW.

Too close to home

God, my girlfriend of 2 yrs and her friend's family flew out to the Bahamas on Air Sunshine two weeks before this crash.

Fort Lauderdale to Treasure Cay and back. I'm sitting here stairing at a picture she took of the airplane before takeoff. N371R- looks like a 410 though. Does anyone know the N-number of the C-402 yet?
