Hi everyone.

I have been thinking on maybe going to one of those Air Inc pilot job fares. What you guys think? It's that a positive experience? I heard that one of my friends got himself an interview with one of the regionals so I thought it my be a good idea to give it a try.
To anyone that its been there, do you know what to wear? I keep hearing in other threats about a blue suit with red tie. Is that what everybody wears there? What is the level of experience of pilots that go there? If the majority are airline fruloughts, I guess I am waisting my time.
Well, thanks for any insight.

Scube.

Yeah, stay home and hope.

This subject comes up about every quarter on the board. The usual Darby-Bashers will chime in telling you it's a waste of money. I know of too many interviews being granted directly due to conference attendance for me to agree. A very good friend of mine just got hired by Airtran SOLEY due to the fact that he took the time to go to an Airinc conference. He knew nobody at the company, just put on the suit, paid (what I believe to be) the very reasonable fee, and stood in few lines. He starts training next month. What did the guy who sat home and "saved his money" get for the hundred bucks of whatever he saved? A couple of extra cases of beer? Now more than ever, you need to get out there and do whatever you can to make yourself marketable. I secured a job interview by attending one myself. Yes, it was only one job interview, but right about now, I bet one job interview would be a good thing, no?

Or, you can sit at home and "save your money"

Hugh is right on

Do a search under Air Inc read all the past posts. Make your own decision. I think he runs a great show, and I wish these had been availalbe in 1977 when I left the Navy.

For every one of those I can give you examples of 100's who didn't. Whos to say they would of gotten a different job a different way. 13 airlines job never went to a Air Inc./FAPA Job fair.

I can do the same....

...however, you have 100% certainty of NOT improving your job prospects by NOT going. You can't say the same for those who attend. You can help your competetion by staying home and saving that coin. I'm struggling with understanding the opposing view. Sure, you can put your foot down because of the "principle" of the whole thing, but just how badly do you want a job? It amazes me that people will spend nearly 10k on a type rating, but won't shell out a hundred or two bucks to actually look recruiters in the eye to hand them their credentials in person. There's a reason why companies who attend the job fair give some consideration to those who make the extra effort to attend.
