Looking for info about how a Navy Lieutenant (E-2 pilot with prior training in T-44's) could transition to the Air Force from the Navy at the end of obligated service...preferably to fly C-130's.

Specifically, I'd like to know how it could it be done (i.e. would I have to know somebody important?), would platform assignment be known before accepting orders for training? what would the committment be? possible locations for service and any obvious pros/cons (e.g. would my flight pay rate still be kept at the 8 year mark?).

I've had enough of ships and I really want to stay in the cockpit (i.e. and avoid the non-flying sea tour) but don't want out of the military altogether. I don't mind deployments overseas...just as long as it's not aboard one of those billion dollar floating stairmasters.

I already have lots of good info on the Coast Guard DCA program.

Okay, found some info from the Inter Service Transition thread that answers most of my questions...all except where the AF C-130 possible stations would be. Sorry for not doing this homework before starting this thread.

AFRES

We had a USMC H-53 pilot who flies for us get picked up by a AFRES C-130 unit as a reservist. I hear alot of the out of the way RES/ANG C-130 units are having trouble filling thier billets, I also hear their is plenty of active duty available for guys that want it.
