Well Im not going to goto ALL ATPS. But I am going to go to Air Desert Pacific, for the CPL and the CFI-II. Im going to go there and try to get all the sutff done ASAP hope I shouldnt be there more then 3 weeks. I have found a few thing on the internet about there MX, and im not going to be using there planes(just a few things on airnav but most was good). I will be using my dads. Anyone ever been to this school? And the big question is should I do the Part 141 (take alittle longer and cost alittle more)? Or part 61 (less time there and wont cost as much)?
Going tomorrow to sign up and find a CFI

No prospective employer will ever ask you if you did your training 141 or 61....nobody cares....well, ok...the exception to this might be if you are applying to a 141 school as an instructor...other than that, don't worry about it. Go whichever way is cheaper. Oh, and a friendly word of advice...don't set foot in one of their airplanes, no matter what happens.
 
I think Fraccapt is a little harsh. I instructed there many years ago and honestly found it no worse than 90% of other GA endeavors. It ain't Flight Safety--but you aren't paying academy prices. MX does vary--welcome to the real world. YOU need to take an interest in your own safety, flight planning, and preflight. Instructors are hit or miss--no standardization. It is a time-building pilot mill, don't be shocked to get a time-building CFI!

Mark Webster (the GM) is a class act. Ari (the owner) shouldnt be trusted further than he can be kicked. The dual rate is something like $36/h yet the instructors only get $10 (just like I did TEN years ago!)

I sent my own wife there for her commercials this spring. After visiting the school in April, I dug up the money to send her to ATP for her CFIs, so take that for what it is worth. The fleet is shrinking, MX is being deferred--the ususal signs of a school where the nose is low and airspeed increasing. The reduction in Euro timebuilders has hurt alot.

Tony, double the time estimates. Really. Mark tries his best, but scheduling is NOT stuctured. Every day is crisis management. Good luck, and do a proper preflight!
 
Study your Arss off

These programs are not magic. In order to meet the goals they set, you need to do a lot of prep. Make sure you have a good understanding of the PTS and try to get as much done ahead of time as possible. This will allow your progress to flow smoother. They can pour the information in your head only so fast. Good luck.

I talked to the owner last night because he has been have trouble finding a CFI there that will do it in my plane (comanche 250). Non of them think they are qualified To fly that plane. If they think the comanche is bad what are they going to do when they are flying a B99 or a Dash 8 or even a piper lance for ameriflight I think I will go somewhere else

Airman Flight School's program runs circles around Air DEserted's program and ATP's. I would seriously look into this program if I were you...

FlyinTony, are you looking to stay in the LA area to do your training, or do you have the ability to take your dad's airplane anywhere?

I might be able to give you a lead if you plan to stay and do this in SoCal.
 
Ya im just looking to stay in socal and get my CFI ASAP, my local says when I get it I can get on there line CFI'ing

I don't think that they don't want to teach you in your own plane. I think that there is a reg that says they have to have 5 hours in one before teaching in it and none of them do. I could be wrong since I don't teach anymore but you might want to check the regs before giving up. Just take one on them flying for 5 hours.

I thought that reg was just for twins. This is a Comanche, no?

As IP076 stated - That reg only applies to multi engine airplanes, helicopters, and powered lift....and if I understand him correctly, FlyinTony is using a Commanche - not a Twin Commanche. Technically, the CFI needs no knowledge of the aircraft to give dual in it.
 
I went to ADP about 3 yrs ago for my multi. They should call it “All Dilapidated Planes.” We’ve had a couple of Comanche’s here at our school. We’ve done COM and CFI training in them. We are not in CA but we are in the west.

PM me if you’re interested in possibly bringing your plane to us and we’ll get you done.
