Does anyone have any current info on the hiring status for Air Cargo Carriers? Do they hire street captains? What is the upgrade time from FO? What are the pay scales like? Are they still PFT?

Thanks

All I know about them is that you'll never get any time off -- especially if they know you have an interview somewhere else. A friend of mine who worked there said that they're good at cheating you out of pay. Pretty shady place, even for a cargo operator.

I seem to get a different impression.... This place is FAR AND AWAY better than the "other" Shorts 360 carrier out there....Trust me, I KNOW.

There is a class running right now, 2 street captains, 4 FO's... NO PFT...

But I belive PFT is still on the books for low-timers. Captains had Prior 135/121 time, both typed. FO's hired in this class had prior 135 and well over 1200 hours. I guess they are looking to have some guys ready for a relatively quick upgrade, it seems they have a surplus of guys who either won't bid upgrade or don't have the time.

2 new 360-300's on the ramp with 3 more on the way, talk of expansion. Falcons are coming on line... They are currently being run on the Cherry Air certificate.

I'm pretty darn happy here... I don't doubt your bud had some problems, but something tells me thats not the norm. around here.

I am not sure what the full story on that is. However, I do know that is not the case if you give the Cheif Pilot a little heads up when you need time off.

I have never had a problem getting days off. After working here for a year and a half I would not call it shady for a second.

I believe that there was approx. a month notice given, but the person was also honest about the fact that it was an interview with another carrier. There were also many other requests that were denied....maybe it was just that they were too short of captains.

The person in question worked there for at least 5 years; I believe the longer one works somewhere, the more one learns about the company. To be fair, though, I've never worked there, so I can only relate what I've heard from my friend.....but still, I believe that I was not being mislead at all. Yes, there could have been other circumstances of which I am not aware -- just posting what I know....
