I'd like to know a lot more about these guys..... pay, schedule, routes where are the bases vacant, mian., safety. Thanks in advance! Continue to slip the surlies......
The Air, Inc salary survey will provide much of the info you seek relative to the majors (ie ABX, FDX, UPS, DHL).
As for ABX, 1st year pay is dismal at $26k, but it is possible to get into 6-figures for year two and some VERY senior Capt's clear $300k.
Our line schedules are generally one week on, one week off and include 30-50 hours/month (slightly higher on the 767). Reserves get 14 off days and generally do not fly more than 10 of their work days. Reserves can also bid two weeks on, two off allowing one to get a month off at a time. We fly almost exclusively domestically from our hub near Cincinnati, but have a small Int'l base in MIA (DC-8's).
Our maint. is top notch, deferrals are rare, unlike other airlines I have flown for where the cockpit frequently had chicken pox.
As for work environment, I have never seen such outright animosity between the union and the company, but I can easily ignore all the BS during my lengthy time off with my 2yr old son and the paychecks are good.
Thanks for the info. Almost two years to this month, I had to make a decision between ACC and another job. The other job had the schedule and base I liked, so I took it. Nice to hear that there was nothing to be missed by not going ACC. Sorry to hear that you are not liking it there...but you would probably wouldn't like flying singles for a living either. Good luck to you longhorn.
I know a guy who started training for them this past week. He paid $13,500. Another guy who was equally as qualified tried to get a class date, but they told him they were not hiring. The one who got hired has about 900 total time and 40 multi. His dad had a major part in the reason he was hired.
