I recommended Air Cargo Carriers recently to a buddy o' mine who needs to build some hours. But, he said they might be 'pay-for-training' these days. That struck me as weird, since they seemed like a decent place back in '97/'98 when I flew Caravans for another outfit.

I'd often see their pilots on th' ramp at HTS and they said it was a good place, even if you did have to load your own freight. So, what's the deal these days? If they've gone 'PFT' I can't imagine 'em attracting any pilots- even if the industry IS slow. Anybody got the scoop on these folks? Thanks.

I live and work at MKE where Air Cargo Carriers is based and I have to say that I have heard mixed opinions. I talked to one of their pilots (sorry, I can't remember his name) and he said that he enjoyed working for ACC. Most of their scheds. are working 5 -6 days a week and from what I understandand you fly the same route all the time. They also have aircraft based at several different cities all over the country so you may end up in Ohio, California, etc.

Now on the other side of the coin... I have a mechanic friend that turned down a job at ACC because of the following reasons. Their hangar was a disaster area. Parts, tools, etc. laying all over the place, dirty floors that haven't been cleaned in ages. He also looked at a wiring harness installed in one of their a/c. He described it as looking like something Clark Griswald would find in his garage.

As for the PFT issue I haven't heard anything recently saying it is or is not in place. I will see if I can talk to one of their pilots next week.

Bottom line.... They are a Pt. 135 freight operator. Their equipment will not be pristine and neither will other aspects about working for them. If you end up getting hired there, be careful and watch your a$$. We don't need any more dead pilots.

Best of luck if you decide to apply at ACC. I am sure that it will be a decent place to work for.

Cheers,
Skyking

I heard that Ameriflight out of Burbank, CA is looking for Brazila F/O's. I don't know what the pay is or what the schedule, bases are, but you might look them up. www.Amerflight.com
