Job Description
The Aircraft Mechanic, AH-1W/UH-1N/HH-1N will have six years within the last nine years practical experience in the specialty. They must be a U.S. citizen and have completed one or more NAMTGD, or equivalent, OMA maintenance course on the COMM/NAV/WPN systems. The Aircraft Mechanic will be capable of conducting on the job training, qualified on ground support equipment applicable to the specialty and be familiar with Navy technical publications. Specialist shall have experience with the use of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series Navy Technical Publication. Tasks that the billet incumbent shall be experienced and qualified in and required to perform include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Inspect and maintain aircraft airframes and airframe components; performs duties related to flight-line operations.
* Operates and maintains applicable aircraft maintenance ground support equipment; obtains licenses as required; directs aircraft taxiing; performs daily pre-flight and post-flight inspections and assists the pilot and crew in the performance of those inspections; assists during periodic airframe inspection; practices applicable safety procedures and precautions on the flight line and in hangar deck areas; performs hot and cold refueling of aircraft; performs oil analysis sampling and uses various types of fuels and lubricants;
removes and installs aircraft power plants, components, and parts as required; recognizes and assists in corrective treatment and/or preventive maintenance for corrosion; uses precision measuring equipment required in the performance of duties; assists in the performance of calendar inspections; operates
assigned fire fighting equipment; follows weight and balance limitations for applicable aircraft; uses technical publications in skill area.
* Performs duties as flight-line section leader or standardization team chief; conducts informal on-the-job technical training; utilizes computer-generated technical data for aircraft inspection, maintenance, and repair.
* Ability to assists in the supervision and administration of flight-line hangar deck area and related operations ashore and afloat inspect, test and repair avionics and electrical aircraft related systems.
* Possess a practical and/or working knowledge of aircraft engine systems and interpretation of technical data and of power plants and the principles of their operation.
* Assist in or perform periodic inspections as required by maintenance requirement cards; in troubleshooting of airframes and engine components; and in the removal and replacement of aircraft component parts to include engines removal and replacement.
* Use and care of power tools and precision measuring devices in the maintenance and repair of aircraft.
