I am frustrated that I joined AEPS last month and they convinced me to pay for a full year membership up front.

Another lesson learned.

I thought AEPS was worthless anyways. During one year of membership, I never heard back from ANY employer listed on the site. Also, I found the magazine somewhat contraversial, Jim Dent seemed to use it as his personal weapon in order to further his own causes, whatever those may have been. They tried to get me to re-subscribe last month to a one-year membership. Par for the course.

Unfortunately, my experience wasn't any better. No one I know ever heard anything back from an AEPS employment inquiry. Most of the automated job leads that I received were for A&P jobs, if you can believe that. I just canceled mine last month.

The short experience I had with AEPS was the same as you've all heard. I only paid for one month and after filling out all the online forms, checking boxes, making sure everything was correct, the only email notices I ever received were for maintenance and avionics position. I went back to see if I had checked a wrong box (something for mechanics) and found nothing.

To make this long story short, I was only with them for a month when I canceled my membership.

AEPS

Frankly when I was publisher of the magazine, I met so many people who had been helped by the employment service, I could not agree with these postings.

Nevertheless, the handwriting was on the wall with September 11th and the situation with UPAS.

Among other things, Jim and I split over the use of the magazine in his war with ALPA.

The Dent;s have started Planejobs.com and are still at it.

No wonder that web site has become less useful...

The handwriting was on the wall with September 11? As if thousands of qualified pilots looking for work was going to hurt an aviation employment agency? Give me a break. And the jury is out on planejobs.com, although there are jobs listed there that have been posted and filled for months. And without knowing much about Mr. Dent, it now becomes apparent that the personal agenda he followed in his magazine was decidedly anti-ALPA. That tended to sour the magiazine, in a big way, in my opinion.

For those who did find employment through AEPS, it was obviously a very valuable service...nothing beats having a good flying job!

I tried to join for a month, and even after paying and going through everything, I was never able to actually view the jobs. Several phone calls and emails and things never got cleared up.

AEPS

AEPS ran into problems as they had agreed to purchase UPAS from ALPA. It was UPAS that was killed by September 11th because it relied on hiring by Alaska, Delta, and others through UPAS to bring in members.

When those companies like Delta said they would not be hiriing, new members at UPAS went away. UPAS was suddenly worth nothing but money was stilled owed to ALPA. ALPA then went after AEPS.

At the same time, AviationCareer.net and AEPS Airfairs became a drain rather than contributor as companies did not need them to recruit.

Jim Dent thought ALPA was being unreasonable and tried a few moves that were all unsuccessful.

While it may or may not ahve worked for you. the known fact is that literally everg regional carrier, Southwest and Air Tran, plus the fractionals used it all the time.

I have to admit, when I joined AEPS several years ago, I received
calls/emails from several airlines, including UPS & FEDEX. That was years ago, cancelled AEPS about "2" years ago, not sure what changes have gone on since then.
