AE Interview

I have a friend who recently interviewed for AE. He made it all the way through the medical, only to recieve an e-mail, stating he was not selected for hire. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? I thought that if you had the medical, you had the job.

There is a Captains Review board where a few people sit around and review all your application information and medical results and then make an ultimate decision if they will hire you or not. I have no clue what they look for, but have heard of others who have been denied at this point.
