Ok, my trusty Telex 5x5 has served me well for 15 years of 121, and 91 flying in jets and props, but now I'm ready to make the jump into a good quality ANR, and I'm looking at a couple. Money is not an object (I don't believe in going on the cheap when it comes to my ears), and I've narrowed it down to two..

Anyone with experience in either, please help me decide which way to go.

Telex ANR-850 which apparently requires no batteries (a big plus from the hassle standpoint).

or

Sennheiser HMEC25-KAS (or also 45-KAS), which does require a battery pack and costs a good bit more.

Which one, if money were no object?

Why?

If money is truly no object, why not get the Bose X? It's the best, hands down.

size...

Unless they've changed it.

Also, is the Bose really better than the Sen.?

Personally I like the Telex Airman 750 for a lot of applications. I finally broke down and got a Bose, however, and I have to say that it really is very comfortable. It's quiet, which is a plus, but it's quiet with or without the ANR on. I like the quality of the sound, the long lasting battery (I didn't want something I had to plug into an aircraft power source to use).

I flew with Sennheisers in the Sabreliner, and while they were okay, I didn't really care for them.

Because of the way the Bose folds at the top, it isn't as bulky as one might think. Mine cost what most of the others cost...it was nearly new and I got it off ebay. I wish I'd bought one a long time ago.

thanks for the tip avbug... I'm starting to lean towards the Sen 45KAS for a combination of size (Telex 750 sise) and quality. And I like the stereo volume as you can keep the side on louder where the other pilot isn't so you're able to talk and at the same time hear ATC on the other ear.

I flew with 750's most of my career (except my own 5x5 that I also used at my last airline) and found them a bit too flimsy.

Let us know what you think of your decision. I'm trying to make the same decision.

Ok, will report back in this thread, when I get it.... UPS due to deliver Friday.
