I am 39 years old and looking to begin a career as a pilot and I am looking for advice on a school to get training.I read the debate on CFI vs. PFT and I am still uncertain about which avenue to take especially cosidering my age.Of course I would like to work for the majors one day but at this stage(my age) I would be content with a regional career. All advice will be much appreciated. Thanks for your help and insight.

Durwood,

I would do a board search on the Mesa Airlines Pilot Development Program (MAPD). There are many threads/posts regarding this training program. If I was your age and in your position this is where I would probably go since it is the quickest route to the airlines and not pft. Bobbysamd was a flight instructor there a few years back and I am sure he could touch on the specifics of the set up, etc.

good luck

MN Aviation Inc. in Albert Lea, MN 4 months 25k and a CFI, MEI, CFII. That's fast. Then CFI a while try a regional then I'll see you at the majors in a few years. You definately need to get the basics as fast as possible, and they will work with you 6 days a week to get you there.
Good luck.
Oh yeah what he said would work also, but I don't know if it would be that fast.
