I've been pursuing flying as career for a while. I was hired by regional and then furloughed. Now I'm back at flight instructing.

I've thought about going back to school, but I just can't seem to move past aviation. My wife thinks I'm nuts for still wanting to fly due the pay, industry QOL ect. I know the six figure jobs are gone, but I think it is still possible to make a decent living.

Anyway, I'm in my late 30's and I see a lot of pro's and con's. Just wondering if anybody else has had to confront similar questions and what the decision was.

Thanks.

Ever thought about an second officer with Cathay Pacific? With 2100 hrs and some good PIC time you could apply. You would have to move to Hong Kong, but eventually move up the ladder and be able to bid for an American base.
The pay is good, flying long-haul international, and you would be with a very stable company in the middle of a big expansion.

It's not for everyone, but it will keep you in the aviation business. I dunno, just a thought.
