Once age 65 passes and upgrades slow way down, the FO pay scales should be increased to compensate for the years added to upgrade time.

Each MEC could do the math, and figure out how much each FO would have lost as a %, and increas the FO pay accordingly.

That figure is then paid for by reduced pay rates for any Captain choosing to stay past 60.

Anything else would be a financial windfall for the 60+ers at the expense of the FOs.

Discuss, discuss.........

A lot simpler to require under 60 in the left seat.

Or just leave the whole thing alone ....

You know they won't, they will continue to sell out the bottom for the top few.

You should be able to fly after 60, just not in the left seat.

All Pay scale's will drop from the legislation. The management will say, "hey, these guys are flying 5 years longer, they don't need such a severe pay rate, stretch it out for 5 years more.

But of course the greedy bastards don't care about that, all they want is to stay in the left seat, not continue flying. MAKE THEM GO TO THE RIGHT SEAT ONLY!

The surplus of pilots created by this legislation will also have a negative effect on wages. Supply and demand - econ 101.

If anything, it will give more impetus for management to lower payscales, because of an overall decline in productivity.

Most of the 60+ guys will have 4-5 weeks of vacation which they will use (I would). If you bid it right you can parlay each of those weeks into a month off. Throw in sick time, which can get a guy another month off and now you may have guys at the highest end of the wage scale working about 6 months out of the year. (Not a bad part time gig)

Out of those 6 months, working 2 weeks a month, you may have the top end guys working 13 weeks a year. That leads to an overall drop in productivity from the pilot workforce which I'm pretty sure any groups management will try to exploit in one way or another (pay may be one, or QOL issues).

However, I might be wrong...because I'm pretty sure that all those over 60 guys want to fly for the love of flying and are in better health than most 20 year olds so perhaps there will be a increase in productivity.
